The avocado oil industry is facing a crisis of authenticity, with a new study revealing that many products labeled as 100% avocado oil are likely adulterated with cheaper oils. This finding is particularly concerning given the growing consumer interest in avocado oil, driven by its perceived health benefits. The study, conducted by Selina Wang and her team at the University of California, Davis, analyzed 54 packaged foods claiming to be made with avocado oil and found that 89% of them contained adulterants.
